Craig L. Kavensky
(1957 - 2019) Of Counsel

Craig L. Kavensky (1957 – 2019) was admitted to the bar in 1982. He was licensed to practice in the state of Illinois and the U.S. District Court of the Central District of Illinois. He received his Bachelor of Science (with high honors) from the University of Illinois in Finance, and his Juries Doctor (with high honors) from Illinois Institute of Technology Chicago-Kent College of Law. He was a member of the American Bar Association, the American Association for Justice, the Illinois State Bar Association, the Illinois Trial Lawyers Association, the Illinois Worker’s Compensation Lawyers Association, and the Rock Island County Bar Association. He was a member of the Leading Lawyers Network in the state of Illinois. Craig was a lifetime member of the United Auto Workers union.

He served as managing partner of Winstein, Kavensky & Cunningham LLC until the fall of 2017. He was also a board member for the Blackhawk College Foundation, Tri-City Jewish Center, and Crow Valley Golf Club (past president). He has volunteered as the assistant golf coach for the Rock Island Girls Varsity Golf Team. He also served as a member of the Rock Island County Building Commission, the City of Rock Island Preservation Commission, the Development Association of Rock Island, and was appointed to the Rock Island County Ad Hoc Committee to build a new courthouse. He served on the Board of Directors of the Jewish Federation of the Quad Cities and The First Tee of the Quad Cities.

Craig was extremely proud of the work he did on behalf of his injured clients. He obtained numerous successful outcomes before the Illinois Workers’ Compensation Commission, the Illinois Circuit Courts, and the Illinois Appellate Courts. Through his representation on workers’ compensation and automobile injury claims, his clients have consistently been awarded and recovered significant sums that have fairly compensated them for their losses. Craig’s clients realized that his main goal was helping them and their families receive the benefits and compensation to which they were entitled.

Craig concentrated his practice in the areas of personal injury, worker’s compensation, and social security disability claims.

David Cunningham
Partner

David L. Cunningham (Partner) was admitted to the bar in 1989. He is licensed to practice in the states of Illinois and Iowa and the U.S. District Courts for the Central District of Illinois and the Northern and Southern Districts of Iowa.
He received his Bachelor of Arts from Drake University in Political Science and History, his Masters in Public Administration from Drake University, and his Juris Doctor from Drake University Law School. He is a member of the American Bar Association, the Illinois State Bar Association, the Iowa State Bar Association, the Rock Island County Bar Association, and the Scott County Bar Association. Prior to joining Winstein, Kavensky & Cunningham, he was an Assistant Scott County Attorney. He is a past member of the Drake University Law School Board of Counselors and has been an author for the Iowa State Bar Association Continuing Legal Education department.

David concentrates his practice in the areas of family, divorce, and child custody litigation, criminal law, labor law

John Malvik
Senior Attorney

John Malvik (Senior Attorney) was admitted to the bar in 1974. He is licensed to practice in the state of Illinois, the 7th Circuit Court of Appeals, and the U.S. District Courts of Northern and Central Illinois. He received his Bachelor of Arts from Augustana College in English Education and his Juris Doctor from DePaul University College of Law. He is a member of the American Bar Association, the Illinois State Bar Association, the Illinois Trial Lawyers Association, and the Rock Island County Bar Association. He is past Chairman and Newsletter Editor for the Illinois Bar’s Standing Committee on Law Related Education for the Public. John served on the Rock Island County Board (chairing several committees) and the Bi-State Regional Commission, where he served as the Chair of the Finance and Personnel Committees. He formerly taught business law at Blackhawk College and has been a guest lecturer on legal issues at both Blackhawk and Augustana Colleges. He has been selected for inclusion in the Leading Lawyers Network for Illinois, Who’s Who in American Law, Who’s Who in the World and Men of Achievement. John is a recipient of a Letter of Commendation from the Illinois State Bar Association and he is also a court Certified Arbitrator and Mediator. He currently serves as a commissioner of the Quad-City International Airport Authority.

John concentrates his practice in the areas of personal injury, worker’s compensation, labor law, and bankruptcy.

John A. Singer (Managing Partner) was admitted to the bar in 2010. He is licensed to practice in the states of Iowa and Illinois, in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District Court of Iowa, and the U.S. District Court for the Central District of Illinois. He received his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of Iowa, and his Juris Doctor from the University of Iowa College of Law. He is a member of the Illinois State Bar Association, the Iowa State Bar Association, the Rock Island County Bar Association, and the Scott County Bar Association. He served as an at-large member of the Executive Council for the Young Lawyers Division of the Iowa State Bar Association from 2014-2016. John was also a four-year varsity letter winner in Men’s Diving at the University of Iowa and a four-time Academic All Big Ten selection.

John concentrates his practice in several areas. He primarily practices in the areas of Personal Injury and Illinois Worker’s Compensation, additionally, John maintains a small family law practice including divorce, establishing child custody and/or visitation, modifying child custody and/or visitationguardianships for minors, and establishing or modifying child support obligations. John also practices in the areas of employment law, unemployment hearings,  appeals, small business and real estate.

Robert T. Rosenstiel (Partner) was admitted to the bar in 2006. He is licensed to practice in the states of Illinois and Iowa. He received his Bachelor of Science in Natural Resources and Environmental Sciences (with honors) from the University of Illinois and his Juris Doctor from Southern Illinois University School of Law. He is a member of the American Bar Association, Illinois State Bar Association, the Iowa State Bar Association, Iowa Association for Justice, and Illinois Trial Lawyer’s Association. He is also an accomplished musician.

Christine Keys

Christine A. Keys received her undergraduate degree, a Bachelor of Science from Marycrest University, in 1988. She graduated with honors, cum laude. After receiving her bachelors, she moved to Chicago, Illinois, to begin law school. While attending law school in Chicago, Illinois, she also interned as a 7-11, (a law school student permit to handle certain courtroom activities), with the Rock Island State’s Attorney’s office gaining valuable courtroom experience while finishing up her last year of law school. Christine graduated from De Paul University College of Law, Chicago, Illinois, in 1991. She was admitted to practice law in Iowa in 1992 and admitted to practice law in Illinois in 1992.

Immediately after graduating from De Paul University, she continued working for the Rock Island State’s Attorney’s office handling misdemeanors and felonies. She was also the assistant state’s attorney that handle the abused and neglected matters pending before the juvenile court.

Starting in 1993, Christine began practicing personal injury and worker’s compensation at the law firm of Winstein, Kavensky & Wallace. After several years running her own firm, she has rejoined the firm of Winstein, Kavensky, & Cunningham and continues to help protect the rights of injured clients. From 1993 to the present, the injured party has always been her focus and she continues to help those who are unsure of what their rights are and guide them through the judicial system.

Christine concentrates her practice in the areas of workers’ compensation and personal injury.

The schooling and experience of our staffadds to the professionalism of our office.
